The Symposium will be held in Zakopane, a touristic village in Tatra mountains, the place which Marian Smoluchowski visited frequently with his brother Tadeusz, sharing enthusiasm for mountains climbing.

 

 

            

 


 

 

TRAVEL

We recommend that you take one of the flights to Kraków (see the Kraków Airport web site). You can also fly to Warszawa (Warsaw) and then continue by plane or by train to Kraków.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

Organizers will arrange a transportation by a conference bus from Kraków to Zakopane on September 2nd (an arrival day).

 

    Arrival, Sunday, September 2

We recommend that you take one of the flights to Kraków (see the Kraków Airport web site) arriving in Kraków before 5:00 p.m. We will provide a conference bus from Kraków to Zakopane on Sunday, September 2 at 5:00 p.m. (Map #1). Then the bus will stop at present location of Physics, Astronomy and Applied Computer Science Faculty (address: Lojasiewicza 11, Krakow) and will finally depart to Zakopane at 5:30 p.m. (Map #2).

 

If your flight arrives later than 5:00 p.m. you might consider arriving one day earlier and staying one night in Kraków.

    Departure, Friday, September 7, 2018

The conference bus will depart from Zakopane to Krakow on Friday morning  allowing you to catch flights leaving Kraków after approximately 3:00 p.m. Regular bus service from Zakopane starts before 6:00 a.m. allowing you to catch flights departing from Kraków at 10:00 a.m. approximately. If your flight is earlier in the morning consider an option to stay overnight in Kraków.

 

VISAS

For some non-EU citizens an entry Polish visa is required. In that case a letter stating that the home institution will cover the registration fee, local and travel expenses is required, before the official invitation letter can be sent to the applicant.

After receiving the official invitation letter please contact the nearest Polish Consulate.

 

 

TRAVEL TIPS

  • We highly recommend to book your flight as soon as possible.
  • We recommend that you take one of the flights to Kraków. Check the Kraków Airport website for direct flights to/from Kraków. The direct train (timetable) runs every 30 minutes to the Central Railway Station (Kraków Główny). The travel time is 17 minutes. If you prefer to take a taxi, the licensed taxi stand is in front of the airport.

  • It is possible to reach Kraków by train. For instance, there is a 2:30 hour connection to/from Warsaw running 13 times a day. For more connections and prices see the Polish Railways website.
